Investigation on the Settlement of High Rockfill Embankment Using Centrifuge Tests

To study the deformation behavior of high rockfill (HRF) embankment during construction and operation, based on more than a 50-m second-class road reconstruction project from Xunyang to Ankang national 316 in Shaanxi, China, centrifuge model test was performed laws HRF embankment. The results showed following: (i) stable operation; (ii) construction, settlement occurred at top, uplift slope foot. Moreover, top greater that foot, deformations both toe reached maximum value end construction; (iii) continued, it changed rapidly start operation. And then, rate slowed down steady state finally. foot very small. This can provide basis reference for design similar mountain areas.
